Spring Hairstyles: Waves and Curls

Shades of Color Spring looks are all about color and shine. New this season is a multi-tonal hair coloring technique, which balances several shades of complementary hair colors to project rich depth and dimension. Color extending and protecting hair care products will no doubt play a starring role because it prevents color fading and infuses moisture to protect against the damaging effects of heat from hot rollers and hair dryers.

Bangs are worn slightly longer for the new season, with lengths ranging from cheekbone down to the chin. Longer bangs will also suit this sexy, flowing new look.

Layer It On
Layers will go longer this spring. The best cutting technique is to point cut and add texture to ends, as opposed to blunt lines. This delivers a natural, softer finish.
Spring's more natural looks will be easier to achieve at home than the styled, polished curls of the past. So this year has seen many new additions that largely focus on updated technology to achieve various looks, such as volume, curls and long-lasting hair color.

Redken's Fresh Curls, a line specifically formulated for the special needs of curly hair, such as control in humid environments. Forty-five percent of women in the U.S. and 27% of women in Europe reportedly have wavy or curly hair. And the catwalks have recently starred naturally curly-haired models. The comprehensive line includes a shampoo, conditioner, Spin Control curl-defining leave-in treatment and Curl Boost scrunching spray gel. Fresh Curls features the interbond conditioning system, a technology that delivers definition, control and moisture to curly, frizzy hair using coconut oil, calcium and honey. Other ingredients include protein, cationic polymers and silicones.

2) Treat: Apply a few drops of conditioner to damp hair to extend the life of your color while protecting against the damaging effects of the blow dryer or hot rollers. 3) Dry: Before blow-drying, apply moisturizing treatment from roots to end. As you blow dry, you want to achieve a smooth, sleek surface that's prime for styling with curling brush, so you can get the shiny soft curls of the season. Schwarzkopf & Dep's L.A. The products also contain hair strengthening compounds with thermal protection, anti-static, humidity-resistant and fortifying properties.

4) Set: use heat-activating Pli spray from the new Fundamentals line by (L'Oreal) for maximum root lift and volume with intensifying film-forming polymers.

5) Style: To set the look, add a few drops of Pure Gloss shine mist ( and finger through the waves to help infuse moisture and achieve the pretty, windblown effect with maximum shine and color definition.
