Online Sales To Hit $200B, Group Says
Online sales are projected to top $200 billion in 2006 -- just three years after passing the $100 billion mark.
The ninth annual Shop.org study, conducted by Forrester Research,
said the largest non-travel categories this year will include computer
hardware and software; autos and auto parts; and apparel, accessories
Pet supplies and cosmetics and fragrances are expected to experience
growth rates greater than 30 percent, more than any other categories.
According to the survey, online sales rose 25 percent last year -- to $176.4 billion.
Excluding travel, they were up 28 percent to $113.6 billion -- representing 4.7 percent of all retail sales in 2005.
