Boots will open first Dubai outlet in June
UK health and beauty chain Boots has officially announced the mid-June opening of its first Dubai store in the Ibn Battuta Mall.
As reported in Gulf News last week, the retailer will open more
stores in the Jumeirah Village, Mall of the Emirates and at a high
street location which has yet to be announced.
The move is a partnership with M.H. Alshaya, one of the Middle
East's leading retail groups which runs brands including Pizza Express
Boots is a firm high street favourite in the UK and has expanded to Asia, Europe, the US and Australasia.
Company heads claim its healthcare products, toiletries and
cosmetics will appeal to Dubai's diverse population, rather than just
the tourist and UK expat market.
Richard Morgan, Managing Director of Boots, Alshhaya, said: "There
is no competitor in Dubai that has all of the products we offer under
Mohammad Alshaya, Chief Executive of M.H. Alshaya, added, "Nothing
like the Boots brand currently exists in the Middle East and we are
looking forward to welcoming the expertise they have honed over 150
years into the GCC market."
Despite Ibn Battuta's distance from central Dubai and the fact that
Boots is recognised as a high street retailer, Morgan said he was
pleased with the company's first store location in the Middle East.
"We have done our footfall counts and we believe this store will be successful from the start," he said.
The 500 square metre outlet will employ 30 staff and will be located in the Egypt Court of the Ibn Battuta mall.
