Acne Severity Determined by Genes
According to a large-scale study carried out in Queensland,
Australia, the deciding factor on acne severity is in your genes, not
the environment.
Scientists from the Queensland Institute of Medical Research looked
at acne severity among 500 pairs of identical and non-identical twins.
They were all aged 12, 14 and 16. Study leader, Nicholas Martin says that your genes decide how many acne attacks you get, not your environment.
"The next thing we're actually trying to do right now is to find
which particular genes these are that are involved - in which
chromosomes they are."
"We've already got some ideas on that, and once we've got those
we'll have a much better idea what the mechanism is and what we can do
about it," the doctor added.
